Rapha's first pair of Core Mitts were designed to achieve the same balance between comfort, performance and value as the rest of the collection. The palm is made with a resilient synthetic suede fabric which provides excellent grip and bar feel in all weather conditions. Larger foam pads have been strategically positioned to minimise road vibrations and maximise comfort on longer rides.
On the back of the hand, a four-way, high-stretch mesh fabric provides excellent breathability. The cuff is bound for comfort at the wrist and a tight, stable fit yet removing the mitts post-ride is nice and easy thanks to a couple of convenient finger pulls.

Cold feet are a common complaint among pro riders. Made with an ultralight, highly insulating merino wool blend rather than the usual thicker fabrics, Rapha's Pro Team Winter Socks keep feet warmer and drier for longer. Thin enough to fit inside winter shoes without restricting toe movement, the socks also have a longer cuff for stability and reinforced toe and heel boxes for long lasting durability. The Rapha Pro Team Winter Socks: for speed and comfort in the cold.

This weekend is all about our friendship and collaboration with the Danish brand Pas Normal Studios. On Saturday, we organise our yearly Plus One Race together, and on Sunday, the day after, it is time to have fun together and do a relaxed social group ride of approx. 60/70 km. We treat you to a half way stop with drinks and snacks, powered by both the Maats and PNS Sprinter vans.
You can ride from both our stores (Amsterdam and Utrecht) and we meet up half way at the stop. We organise this event for Maats and Pas Normal Studios customers and community.

Sunday Dec-8th 09:00 - Amerongen
Join us at De Proloog in Amerongen for an unforgettable day full of gravel. We’ve been cooking on three unique loops that will take you on trails you've likely never seen before. Each loop is unique and different, and you decide the order and how many loops you want to ride. All three starts and ends at our base at De Proloog.
The event offers three loops, each approximately 50 km. You decide how many loops you want to ride—take on one, two, or all three! That means you can ride anywhere from 50 km to 150 km. It’s your day to explore at your own pace. Ride by yourself, as a team or join a group: it's all good!
Here’s the schedule for the day:
What bike to bring? A gravel, CX or MTB bike is what you need. You’ll be riding a mix of gravel, sand, and pavement, so get ready for a diverse ride.
Included in your ticket:
Thursday, January 23
Maats Utrecht, Twijnstraat 7
Doors open from 18:30h, talks start at 19:00h
Organised by Utrecht Ultra, this night is all about long distances! They’ve invited three experienced ultra-distance cyclists to share their stories and lessons from the (off-)road. Ins and outs, highs and lows, the fun, the pain, and everything in between—you’ll hear it all at Ultra Talks!
Our speakers are:
Julia Schopka. Experienced in off-road races such as Badlands, Bright Midnight and last “summer's” inaugural Alps Divide.
Jair Hoogland. Has finished many races and claimed top spots in a bunch of them, such as the Transcontinental Race, Unknown Race, Three Peaks Bike Race and VIA Race.
Belle de Gast. Ex-pro cyclist and cycling mayor of Utrecht. Rode Utrecht Ultra as her first ultra-distance race last summer and finished as the fastest woman.
The night is hosted by Ruben Platte, organiser of Utrecht Ultra and finisher at Three Peaks Bike Race and the Trans Pyrenees Race.
We end the night with a Q&A, so you’ll be able to ask all the things you’ve always wanted to know about riding ultras. Included in the fee are two delicious beers from De Kromme Haring (non-alcoholic available).

Start and finish: Maats Amsterdam, van Woustraat 165
January is the month of the Winter Resolution Challenge from Pas Normal Studios, a Strava initiative that challenges you to ride at least 1250 km in the first month of the year. On Sunday 21/1, we organize a long ride to boost your monthly total and achieve your goals. We also hosted this event in the beginning of 2023, and we like the idea to turn this into a yearly tradition. Check last years aftermovie here.
Everyone around Amsterdam has heard of it or rode it before: the famous and notorious Markermeer loop, a route of approximately 160 km, all day along the waterfront. It is a simple route where the only thing you have to think about is whether you are going to take it clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on the wind that day. You can find the route here.
We gather at 08:30h at Maats for coffee. After the ride briefing, we divide everyone into smaller groups for departure. The Maats Sprinter will serve as a support van, that rides with the groups, in which you can put some personal belongings (like food or extra clothing) during the stops.

The World Championships, along with the Tour of Lombardy, mark the end of the traditional cycling season. This year, the Worlds will take place in Zurich, Switzerland. A demanding course with significant elevation gains. The women’s race is scheduled for Saturday, followed by the men’s race on Sunday. Will Demi Vollering follow-up Lotte Kopecky, and will Mathieu van der Poel defend his title, or is Tadej Pogačar unbeatable on this challenging terrain with lots of climbing?
In collaboration with our friends from de Kromme Haring, we’re hosting an event on Sunday, September 29, dedicated to the World Championships. The day begins with coffee at Maats Utrecht and wraps up with beer and a live screening of the race on the big screen at Kromme Haring. And of course, we’ll squeeze in a bike ride in between. In true World Cup spirit, you can expect a challenging route with several circuits and plenty of climbs.
