Ultra Distance Cyclist and friend of Maats, Floris von Bönninghausen consciously decides to use his time. While his mother is unfortunately gradually losing her sense of time, he increasinly realizes the value of time himself.
In this way, he raises money for Alzheimer Netherlands by challenging established cycling records under the banner of "Time2win." Because money is time. Time for research. Time for his mother and other people with dementia. Not just now, but also in the future. Time for what truly matters.
This summer, Floris' goal is the 24-hour world cycling record. With this endeavor, he pushes himself to the limit for a world without dementia. An ambitious initiative, but the journey is still long and demands a lot of time. And that's where money comes in. Because: 'money is time'.
Support Floris' Challenge
By breaking this world record, Floris aims to generate as much attention as possible for Alzheimer Netherlands. There is still no treatment available for people with dementia, making it the number 1 cause of death in the Netherlands.
Dementia is often associated with a disease for the elderly, but many young people are also affected. Action is needed now for a better future for these individuals.
Since 1984, the Netherlands has been committed to people with dementia and their loved ones. The goal is a future without dementia. Alzheimer Nederland provides information about Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, offer support, and advocate for better care for people with dementia. They collaborate closely with regional and national healthcare institutions and raise funds for various purposes, including scientific research into dementia.
In recent years, significant progress has been made in dementia research, but unfortunately, there is still much to be done. That's why this year, Floris is teaming up with o2Factoring, putting everything he has into ensuring that more research can be conducted.
Around the Netherlands
This isn't Floris's first initiative to support Alzheimer's research. On June 18, 2021, Floris embarked on a three-day journey along the border of the Netherlands. He completed this 1533 km long journey in a record time of 63 hours and 51 minutes. To put it in perspective, in terms of distance, it's equivalent to a trip from Amsterdam to Madrid or 100, yes truly 100 laps around the Ronde Hoep.
The filmmakers from Daydreamr followed Floris before and during his journey and created this extraordinary documentary.
