We first explored the beauty of Tuscany with our community back in 2022, and after taking a few years off, we returned in September 2025. The trip was such a success that we’ve decided it deserves a permanent spot on the Maats calendar — exclusively for Maats Members.

In September 2026, we’ll once again head to the heart of Italy for an unforgettable week of cycling: rolling roads lined with cypress trees, espresso stops in sun-soaked villages, and long tables filled with pasta after a day of riding. This trip is all about riding together, enjoying the good life, and creating lasting memories — all at the pace that perfectly fits the Maats spirit. As the final Maats Travel of the season, it’s the perfect way to wrap up your summer of riding in true Italian style.

Our Stay

Unlike our other Maats Travel trips earlier in the season — such as the Alps, Marmotte, or Calpe — where we stay in hotels with meals and drinks fully arranged, the Tuscany trip has a more relaxed and 'DIY' setup. We’ll rent one or several large villas where everyone can stay together, creating that feeling that makes this week so special.

Groceries, cooking, and meals are done together in the villa, adding to the easygoing, relaxed atmosphere that makes this trip feel like a real getaway. We'll return to the same accommodation we used in 2025. The setup will be based on around 25 participants, with shared twin rooms and separate beds.

Rides

Our home base, close to Siena, places us right in the heart of Tuscany and the legendary Strade Bianche region. From here we ride endless white gravel roads, rolling hills, and quiet country lanes through some of Italy’s most beautiful landscapes. Check out last years Komoot Collection of our Tuscany trip. 

The trip features five fully organised day rides, designed by experienced local route makers and showcasing the area’s most iconic gravel sections. Distances range from 80–100 km with around 1,000 metres of climbing, including the option to ride the full Strade Bianche route as the Queen Stage. We ride together in one or two groups, take regular breaks, and offer shortcut options each day. 

Level

This trip is more about slowing down and enjoying the ride than about pure performance. All members — men and women, experienced riders and those newer to cycling — will feel at home on this journey. Each day, you can choose between a longer or a shorter route, and we’ll ride in groups based on level. 

If you’re looking for a pure performance challenge, this might not be the trip for you — in that case, you may want to consider another Maats Travel experience, such as the Marmotte Challenge. This trip is about enjoyment, comfort, and relaxing. 

Travel Options

Tuscany is about 1500km from the Netherlands, which gives you the choice to, for instance, team up with others and organize your own trip by car down to Italy.

Otherwise, there are several flight options to either Florence (closer) or Pisa airport, from where you can take a train to Siena. We're happy to pick you up from there.

We will share flight options as a suggestion so you can travel as a group.

We offer to bring your bike for you exclusively on the Maats Sprinter (limited spots, first come, first serve) This service is included in the price.
