After two successful editions in January 2025 and 2026, we're heading back to Calpe for another unforgettable week on the bike — exclusively for Maats Members.The region is a true winter paradise for cyclists, and it's no coincidence that many World Tour teams come here every year to train.

With perfectly paved roads, long climbs like the Coll de Rates and Cumbre del Sol, quiet inland routes, and a mild Mediterranean climate, Calpe offers the ideal conditions to escape the winter cold and kick off the new year with a solid early-season training block. Expect sunshine, great company, and the perfect start to your cycling year.

Our Stay

For our week in Calpe, we’ll be staying at Hotel Cap Negret — not a romantic getaway, but a perfectly located and fully equipped base for a week of serious riding. The hotel sits right in the heart of Calpe’s training area and is designed with cyclists in mind, offering a professional bike centre with secure storage, washing facilities, and mechanical support. There’s a reason why so many professional cycling teams spend their winters here.

You’ll also find everything you need for recovery and comfort, including a gym, outdoor heated pools, and a wellness area with sauna and spa. We’ll be staying in twin rooms, each equipped with two single beds. Private rooms are available at an additional cost.

The Rides

Calpe offers endless possibilities for riding and climbing, making it the perfect training ground to start the season. The area is packed with legendary ascents like the Coll de Rates, Cumbre del Sol, Tudons, and Port de Bernia — climbs that are challenging yet rewarding, with views stretching from the mountains to the Mediterranean.

Since it's still early in the year, the rides won't be too long or extreme; expect balanced routes with steady climbs, scenic descents, and plenty of time to recover (and grab coffee) between efforts. The ideal mix of training and enjoyment — and if you've been before, you already know how good it is.

Level

For most riders, this will be the first time back outdoors after the winter — making it the perfect opportunity to put in some steady hours on the bike without any competitive pressure. During our week in Calpe, every climb is ridden at your own pace, and we always regroup at the top before descending and riding together along the coast.

We split into smaller groups based on level, and each day offers both a short and a long route — so whether you're riding to build form or simply to enjoy the sun, this trip suits everyone. Coffee stops and lunch breaks are non-negotiable.
