After a successful first edition last November, the Maats Checkpoint Challenge is back for its second instalment. We've found another 10 amazing checkpoints that will take you in a new direction from our Utrecht store.

This challenge (or race for some) is all about planning, route skills and teamwork. There’s no route, just 10 checkpoints (CPs) that are worth a visit for you and your teammate. You connect these checkpoints to create your own route.

Two out of ten CPs are mandatory, the other eight are optional. So it’s up to you to decide how long your route will be. If you want to check off all CPs, expect to ride approximately 200km. The shortest route along the mandatory CPs will be around 100km.

We will draw up a classification at the finish. The team that checks off all checkpoints and does so in the shortest amount of time wins the challenge.

Event Details

• 9:00 gathering at Maats Utrecht, Twijnstraat, for coffee and ride briefing, start at 9:30
• Max 30 teams of two
• All CPs will be reachable on a road bike with wide-ish tires, but you will have to ride some easy gravel
• At one of the mandatory CPs there will be food and drinks, but bring enough yourself for during the ride
• You have to be back in store before 18:00 (cut-off time)
• We’ll share the CPs a few days before the event so you can start planning your route in advance
• Team ticket price €60 (€30 pp)
• Included: coffee before the start, food and drinks at one CP, beers and snacks afterwards at the finish

After booking a ticket we send you an extensive briefing a few days before the event.

Maats x Leeman Ride - Dönerdag 4 September 

At the end of August 2019, together with our neighbors from Leeman Döner, we organized a ride that turned out to be one of the most iconic cycling events in the history of mankind: The Maats x Leeman Ride. 

Last year, to celebrate the fifth edition of this legendary ride, we teamed up with Leeman Döner to create a limited-edition T-shirt. It was a big hit — and now it's time for version 3.0! For this year's edition, you can choose between two ticket options:

• a standard ticket for the event (includes ride, doner + 2 drinks)

• or a combo ticket that includes both the event and the exclusive Maats x Leeman T-shirt (€45). You only pay for the t-shirt and the drinks, the legendary Doner is on us. The T-shirt will be ready for pick-up in our AMS store at the date of het event.

Saturday, April 11th 2026, 10:00 — Oudenaarde

The Spring Classics are among the most iconic races in cycling — demanding one-day rides across legendary roads, packed with cobbles, short but brutal climbs, and unpredictable conditions.  Last year, this was one of the highlights of the cycling season. By popular demand, it returns this year.

Get ready to ride your own Spring Classic. Expect challenging routes, great company, and a true taste of cycling tradition. Here’s an impression of last year’s edition.

On Saturday, April 11th, we start in Oudenaarde, the beating heart of the Flemish Ardennes. From here, we’ll take on the legendary climbs and cobbled roads of the Tour of Flanders for an epic day on the bike.

Want to be well-rested at the start? You can book a hotel room at Hotel Leopold Oudenaarde for the night from Friday, April 10th to Saturday, April 11th.

Saturday, May 23th, 10:00 – Liège

Earlier this year, a wonderful group of Maats Members traveled south for the 2nd edition of Maats Monday: Flanders. It was a tough day, but everyone managed to conquer the famous cobbled climbs. 

Now it's time to head out to the other mythical cycling area in Belgium: The Ardennes! The region where great titans like Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel, Primoz Roglic and many more battled for glory to win the oldest monument in cycling history: 'La Doyenne'. 

So here it is: we’re heading to the heart of Liège–Bastogne–Liège for another Belgian Classics ride: Maats Travels: Ardennes!

On Saturday, May 23th, we start in Liège, at the parking lot of hotel Ibis Liège Seraing where we will head out for a monstrous ride. Expect an epic day of cycling over the legendary climbs of La Doyenne. 

Want to be well-rested at the start? You have the option to book a hotel room at Ibis Liège Seraing from Friday (May 22nd) to Saturday (May 23th). Costs for a hotel room range between €130–€170, depending on if you want to include breakfast.

• Option 1: Approx. 120 km through the Ardennes region, featuring famous LBL climbs including La Redoute, Stockeu, and more. Total elevation gain: ~2000m
• Option 2: Approx. 160 km with the same iconic climbs as option 1, but longer and with more climbing: ~2700m

This year it’s 5 years ago that we opened our store at the van Woustraat in Amsterdam. To celebrate this, we are organizing a series of amazing events this summer. These are events that are in line with the things we have done with Maats in recent years or events that we have wanted to organize for a long time and for which this is the perfect reason.

Dropping - Saturday Oct 14

This is a new event based on a typical Dutch concept: a dropping. Imagine a departure in the early morning hours with a touring car to an unknown destination somewhere in the Netherlands. There are two pickup locations: Amsterdam & Utrecht. When you arrive at the location, your bike will be waiting for you and you will receive the location of the first checkpoint.

Once you’ve reached the first checkpoint, the location of the next one will be revealed, and so on. Five checkpoints later and about 150km further you will arrive back at our Amsterdam store where we will draw up the results. This event is not just about speed; route skills, navigation and the ability to improvise will play important roles. Eternal glory awaits at the finish line...
