At Maats, we're all about cherry-picking the finest cycling apparel and accessories. We don’t sell bikes — which kind of makes us the odd one out in the world of cycling. But every now and then, something comes along that we just can’t say no to, even if it doesn’t fully fit into what we normally do.
A collaboration with Standert Bikes from Berlin is a perfect example. As far as we’re concerned, this exciting brand is a true gamechanger — and it aligns surprisingly well with who we are and the brands we represent.
That’s why, in spring 2025, we’re hosting a Standert Pop-up in our stores. A curated selection of Standert bikes will be on display, ready to be explored — and yes, you can even take them for a short test ride.
To kick things off, we’re organizing two special Maats x Standert Kick-off Rides: one in Amsterdam and one at our brand-new store in Rotterdam.
Ride info
-
Advanced Pace: 30-32 km/h
-
This ride is a bit more challenging, but still meant as a community ride where a NO DROP POLICY applies.
-
Ride leaders will still lead the ride but do not ride at the front all the time. Riders at the front can switch turns.
If someone is struggling, bring the pace down a little bit. If some people have to wait at a traffic sign, wait for them across the street.
In Dutch there is a saying: “Samen uit, Samen thuis”, which means we’ll stick together and leave no one behind, from departure till arrival.
General Rules (Important!)
- Helmet is Mandatory
- Make sure you're aware of the signaling on the bike (Voor, tegen, paaltje etc.)
- Respect the indicated pace
-
Respect traffic rules
What is the level? What do we expect from you?
Although we love all cyclists, our rides are not for absolute beginners. If you register for our rides, we expect you to be able to ride at least 28 km/h in a group for a minimum of 2+ hours. Experience with group rides is a plus but not a requirement.
NOTE: if the reason for you to join is to ride really fast without any social interactions, this is NOT for you.
Routes:
Each Maats location has approximately 8 fixed routes of around 60-70 km.
Routes are designed for variety, safety and an optimal riding experience with groups. Routes will NOT be adjusted (only in consultation).
