In light of our 1-Year Anniversary, we organise a Vrijmibo + Party on Friday April 3rd, and a Celebration Social Ride on Sunday April 5th.

This ride is a tribute to the Ronde van Vlaanderen, which also takes place in Flanders on this very day, so expect cobbled sectors and punchy climbs along the way. 

We invite you for a pre-ride coffee & briefing starting at 09:00. At 09:30, we’ll head out in two groups: You can choose the Advanced group (~32 km/h average) or opt for the slightly more relaxed Flow group (~28 km/h average).

After the ride, we’ll screen the Ronde van Vlaanderen on our in-store beamer. Watch the titans clash while enjoying a well-earned post-ride drink or coffee.

This invitation is open to anyone who loves to roll on two wheels, however do understand that our Social Rides are of a certain level and we expect a certain level of stamina and experience with group rides. Leave your name/email below so we can inform you of the route/ride details, but of course also feel welcome should you not have registered in time. See you there!

In April Maats proudly opened its third location in the heart of Rotterdam. To celebrate the arrival in Rotterdam, we teamed up (again) with resident artist Roel van Eekelen who designed the iconic Maats Rotterdam Festive t-shirt! This Thursday night we'll not only ride together with Roel, but you'll also have the possibility to grab one of these exclusive shirts in our store! New on the Maats Travels calendar: a weekend escape to the Vosges.

21-23 Augustus 2026

You've been asking for it and here it is. Weekend trips have been one of the most requested additions to Maats Travels, and we're kicking things off with a great one. No race entry, no pressure just a long weekend of great riding, great food, and great company in one of France's most beautiful cycling regions.

The location

L'Échappée Vosgienne is a brand new hotel built for sport and recovery, set in the heart of Gérardmer in the Vosges mountains. Think comfortable twin rooms with locally crafted bedding, full access to the sports and wellness facilities, and a kitchen run by a dedicated chef who knows that cyclists need more than a sad buffet. Meals are built around local produce, nutritional balance, and dietary needs — so whether you're fuelling hard or recovering smart, you're covered.

The programme

Friday 21 August — check in from 16:00 and get straight into it with an 75-85km ride to stretch the legs after the journey. Dinner together at the hotel. Perfect start to the weekend.

Saturday 22 August — Big day ahead. After breakfast, choose your route: a 120km or 160km ride through the climbs and valleys of the Vosges. Both options are fully supported. Dinner together in the evening to celebrate surviving it.

Sunday 23 August — Breakfast and check-out at 10:00 then a relaxed coffee ride of 50–65km to spin out the legs and end the weekend the right way. 

Practical info

Rooms are twin-shared with two separate beds. Single rooms are not available due to capacity. You'd like to room with a specific person, let us know when booking.

Need to bring your bike by van? We've got space in the Maats Sprinter for 12 bikes — first come first served. Prefer to drive yourself or travel by train? Gérardmer is easy to reach independently.

Alba Optics x Maats: Sunset Run

From day one, Maats has been all about the love for cycling. Now, for the first time in the history of Maats, we're lacing up our running shoes, taking a new step: we're going to run!

Lots of cyclists go for a run more and more (and vice versa) and we cannot deny the mutual interest from both sides. Maats does not want to run behind on this (...😉). Hence we're going to do something crazy, to discover whether or not running suits Maats.

Together with Alba Optics, we’re hosting a Sunset Run  – a laid-back after hours Community Run starting from our store in Rotterdam, the city known for the marathon and it's ever growing running culture. 

Because we are going to try something completely new, we want to make this a memorable evening: Emiel Berghout, Brand Ambassador and Running influencer, will join us to bring the energy and make awesome content.

Whether you’re an experienced runner or simply curious to join this new vibe – everyone is welcome!

The initially planned early morning ride has unfortunately been cancelled.

Every year Albion Cycling uses the lack Friday period as an opportunity to encourage customers to repair rather than replace their kit, and this year they are bringing their mobile repair station to Maats Amsterdam, offering free repairs on any brand of cycling clothing! 

 From 10:00 the Albion team will be on hand the whole day to meet customers. They will also teach you how to easily repair your kit at home, with a free repair kit for take away! There’ll also be Albion gifts throughout the day for Albion purchases in-store.

NOTE: This is all about fixing scrapes and tears, and the focus is on patch repairs. Big repairs like zip replacements will not be available on the day due to the time they take.

ASSOS Collective Thirteen (C13) is a community initiative that brings cyclists together through organized group rides worldwide, connecting local bike shops, brands, and ASSOS ambassadors, all in the name of growing the sport.

Sunday, May 17 | MAATS RTM

In the world of cycling, a chasse patate is a hopeless chase between groups. On Sunday, May 17, Maats and Rotterdam icon Bram Ladage are redefining the term: a hunt for the finest potato in the city. This ride is all about that golden, hand-cut reward.

Bram Ladage
What started as a single fry stand in 1967 has grown into a true Rotterdam institution, with over 45 locations. Still family-run, still hand-cutting every potato, and still the undisputed home of the Bram Oorlog. A Brammetje isn’t something you just grab  it’s something you earn. We’re proud to team up with this Rotterdam icon and bring this event to life together.

The Ride: Hunting the Source
We depart at 09:30 from our shop on the Hoogstraat for an 80km loop. This isn’t just any route; we’re heading to the Hoeksche Waard to ride past the very fields where Bram’s potatoes are grown. The theme of this ride is Flow so riding speed will be around 30 km/h (28-29-ish avarage)

The Reward: The BramBus
Upon our return to the shop, the legendary BramBus (food truck) will be waiting right outside. Refuel with the ultimate Rotterdam classic: a fresh "Brammetje" with their signature sauces—including the famous Bram Oorlog—paired with a variety of hot snacks (with plenty of vegetarian options) and ice-cold drinks.

The ride from Berlin takes place on Monday, June 9, and we’re hosting an official International Cycling Club ride from Berlin in collaboration with Cykel Butik Berlin.

In 2019, together with our neighbors from Leeman Döner, we organized a ride that turned out to be one of the most iconic cycling events in the history of mankind: The Maats x Leeman Döner Ride. Ever since, we've organized a yearly Döner Ride, and you can be part of the 2026 edition!

Last year, we teamed up with Leeman Döner to create a limited-edition T-shirt. It was a big hit, and now it's already time for the 3rd drop! For this year's edition, you can choose between two ticket options:
