This late summer, Maats Local Loops is heading across the border for an exciting three-day trip to Germany. Expect a perfect mix of cycling, beer, and bratwurst as we explore new roads. We're starting up the Maats Sprinter and organizing three Local Loops in three vibrant German cities in one weekend.  On this page we tell you all about it. 

Event Details

• Meeting Point: Sunday morning at 10:00 AM, Colonge city center (location TBC)
• Ride: 100 km road ride through the region, expertly designed by Local Legend Jan Recker 
• Mid-Ride Break: The Maats Sprinter will be on hand with coffee, cold drinks, and snacks
• Post-Ride: We'll gather at a local brewery to enjoy some well-deserved drinks
• Registration: 30 spots available, registration is mandatory
• Note: Participation is at your own risk

The Maats Membership Gravel Series.

Four gravel rides. Four different locations. One shared mission: finding the best gravel roads, trails and local gems the Netherlands has to offer.

This season, the Maats Gravel Series returns with four rides ranging from 70 to 120 km. Expect beautiful gravel, local knowledge, good company and, inevitably, a fair amount of dirt.

The 2026 Gravel Series

📍 Amersfoort — Sunday, October 11
📍 Bergen (NH) — Sunday, November 1
📍 Zwolle — Sunday, November 22 
📍 Maastricht — December 19 & 20 

We’ll kick things off in Amersfoort, teaming up with local legend V10 to show us the best gravel around town.

Three weeks later, early morning we head north towards the Bergen dunes, where local Floris will take us deep into his backyard. The only challenge? Trying to keep his wheel. Good luck. 😉

In Zwolle, Thijs is back behind the route, taking us across the Veluwe and its finest gravel roads and trails.

And then we head south for the grand finale. We’ll close out the series in the Limburg Heuvelland, with a special Gravel Series x Off The Map weekend in Maastricht. Expect rolling hills, off-road adventure and plenty of Limburg gezelligheid.

One ride, different speeds

Depending on the group and the needs of the participants, we’ll split into different groups riding at different speeds. Whether you’re looking to cruise, push the pace or find something in between there should be a group for you.

Each Gravel Series event has a limited number of spots and is initially exclusively available to Maats Members. If spots remain, aspiring members will also have the opportunity to join.

Maats Membership just turned one! Over the past year we’ve grown towards 100 members, learned a lot, and built a solid foundation for the future. We also asked for your feedback through a survey, which gave us many valuable insights. Based on this, we’ve gone back to the drawing board to take Maats Membership to the next level in 2026.

When we started Maats a few years ago, Monday was our only day off for a long period. Because we started Maats from the love for cycling, there was always riding that day. On the day when most people were in the office or at work, we rode our bikes every Monday. Maats Monday was born.

In recent years we rode some cool routes during Maats Mondays. We often got the question from people if they could join. Thats why we are organizing the Maats Monday: Limburg Edition, on Monday September 29th.

Would you like to ride with us on Maats Monday? Take a day off, buy a ticket and arrange your transport to Limburg. We'll see you there for a wonderful day of cycling.

Thursday May 9 - 15:30 - Purmerplein, Amsterdam Noord

On Thursday, May 9 (Ascension Day) you will find us at de Ronde van het Purmerplein in Amsterdam Noord. A local and popular cycling event with a long history. Besides the races there is a market and a varied program organized around it by residents and local initiatives. A nice day out all about cycling! You'll love it!

Maats will organize one of the races during de Ronde van het Purmerplein. We present you  the Maats Rookie Race. A criterium style open street race for everyone who is not very experienced in riding these types of races but who would like to give it a try.

The riders who have a racing license start in a different category and this competition is intended for people who love to ride their bike and would like to test him/her-self in a criterium and perhaps go home with the cup and flowers.  Who knows....

We will organise one race but we have three different classifications: Men, Women and Non-Binary. Please be aware that these kind of events are for people who are new to racing, not for people who are new to cycling... Some experience with high-speed rinding ing groups is recommended.

Participation costs €12.50 and you will receive a starting ticket, bib number, snacks and drinks, photos and prizes for the winners.

This ride is a tribute to the Ronde van Vlaanderen, which also takes place in Flanders on this very day, so expect cobbled sectors and punchy climbs along the way. 

We invite you for a pre-ride coffee & briefing starting at 09:00. At 09:30, we’ll head out in two groups: You can choose the Advanced group (~32 km/h average) or opt for the slightly more relaxed Flow group (~28 km/h average).

After the ride, we’ll screen the Ronde van Vlaanderen on our in-store beamer. Watch the titans clash while enjoying a well-earned post-ride drink or coffee.

This invitation is open to anyone who loves to roll on two wheels, however do understand that our Social Rides are of a certain level and we expect a certain level of stamina and experience with group rides. Maats x Alba Optics

October 17 - Maats Amsterdam

On Sunday, thousands of runners will take on 21.1 or 42.2 km through Amsterdam, chasing PRs and checking their splits every kilometre. The day before, we’re doing it our way: on two wheels and without looking at the watch.

It’s a social ride with Alba Optics, a brand that has never cared about finishing first. Alba’s story started with an original Italian frame mould from the 80s, which they brought back with new technology to make their first model, the Delta. Since then they’ve stood for riding that’s about quality of life, not performance: getting wherever you want, in any condition, and looking good doing it. Maats has backed that idea from day one, and we’ve been proud partners for almost ten years. We just getting started.....

Alba Optics x Maats: Sunset Run

From day one, Maats has been all about the love for cycling. Now, for the first time in the history of Maats, we're lacing up our running shoes, taking a new step: we're going to run!

Lots of cyclists go for a run more and more (and vice versa) and we cannot deny the mutual interest from both sides. Maats does not want to run behind on this (...😉). Hence we're going to do something crazy, to discover whether or not running suits Maats.

Together with Alba Optics, we’re hosting a Sunset Run  – a laid-back after hours Community Run starting from our store in Rotterdam, the city known for the marathon and it's ever growing running culture. 

Because we are going to try something completely new, we want to make this a memorable evening: Emiel Berghout, Brand Ambassador and Running influencer, will join us to bring the energy and make awesome content.

Whether you’re an experienced runner or simply curious to join this new vibe – everyone is welcome!
