On Thursday, May 9 (Ascension Day) you will find us at de Ronde van het Purmerplein in Amsterdam Noord. A local and popular cycling event with a long history. Besides the races there is a market and a varied program organized around it by residents and local initiatives. A nice day out all about cycling! You'll love it!

Maats will organize one of the races during de Ronde van het Purmerplein. We present you  the Maats Rookie Race. A criterium style open street race for everyone who is not very experienced in riding these types of races but who would like to give it a try.

The riders who have a racing license start in a different category and this competition is intended for people who love to ride their bike and would like to test him/her-self in a criterium and perhaps go home with the cup and flowers.  Who knows....

We will organise one race but we have three different classifications: Men, Women and Non-Binary. Please be aware that these kind of events are for people who are new to racing, not for people who are new to cycling... Some experience with high-speed rinding ing groups is recommended.

Participation costs €12.50 and you will receive a starting ticket, bib number, snacks and drinks, photos and prizes for the winners.

After weeks of renovating, painting, and furnishing, our brand-new Maats store in Rotterdam is finally ready to open! 💚💚

The weekend of April 5th & 6th marks our grand opening. On Saturday, we celebrate with a party, but on Sunday, it’s time to ride!

We’ve planned a beautiful 75 km road ride, starting and finishing at Maats Rotterdam (Hoogstraat 56-A). We'll gather at 09:30 for coffee and roll out in groups around 10:00. This event is all about fun and pace will be social (28-30 km/h).

This Sunday is also the day of De Ronde van Vlaanderen. After the ride, we'll screen the race on a big screen at the store, accompanied by food and drinks.

Free registration is required – grab your ticket via the booking tool. All details will be sent to registered participants a few days before the event.

How does it work?

Depending on the number of participants, you can choose from different groups with varying speeds. There will always be a group riding at a social pace, averaging between 28-30 km/h.

Although we love all cyclists, our rides are not for absolute beginners. If you register for our rides, we expect you to be able to ride at least 28 km/h in a group for a minimum of 2+ hours. Experience with group rides is a plus but not a requirement.

As the cooler months approach, we're excited to host gravel rides starting from our store in Utrecht. There's nothing we love more than heading out with a great group to explore scenic routes and hidden trails. To ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience, participation is limited. With a maximum of 25 riders, we keep things intimate by riding in small groups of 5-6 people.

Sunday Aug 25th, 09:30 - KAMU, Breda

A few weeks ago we started a collaboration with KAMU Breda: the spot in the south for maintenance, a new bike, coffee and from now on also for Premium Cycling Apparel. At KAMU you will find a Maats shop-in-shop with the brands MAAP, Canvas and Pas Normal Studios. To officially kick off this collaboration, we are organizing an opening ride together with KAMU.

We start the day with coffee and a short introduction about this collab. After the ride briefing, we divide everyone into groups for a group ride of 100km. Halfway we will make a short stop with refreshments and snacks from the Maats Sprinter. When we return to KAMU, we like to have a drink together to toast this collaboration.

Maats x Leeman Ride - Dönerdag September 19

At the end of August 2019, together with our neighbors from Leeman Döner, we organized a ride that turned out to be one of the most iconic cycling events in the history of mankind: The Maats x Leeman Ride. This summer we will host already the fifth edition and we will make something special out of this anniversary edition...

Together with MAAP we will organize three events in the coming months to honor the Spring Classics. A three-fold ride series based on three different elements that make the Spring Classics unique:

• Cobbles - Sunday March 17
• Bergs - Sunday April 21 (start/finish location: Utrecht!)
• Go Far - Sunday May 19

This is a ride experience where we come together and adapt to constant changes in terrain, weather and unforeseen challenges that make the classics so memorable.

All these three group rides start and end at Maats Amsterdam (9:00am coffee, 09:30am roll out, editions Cobbles & Go Far, and Maats Utrecht (9:30am coffee, 10:00am roll out, edition Bergs). The first two (Cobbles and Bergs) have a distance of approx. 130km the third one (Go Far) will be around 200km.

We'll create multiple groups based on cycling levels - however we aim that the grouop speeds vary between 28 and 32 km/h. There is a halfway stop on all rides. A ticket is mandatory. Participation is at own risk.

Rotterdam Pizza Ride powered by Maats in collaboration with Pas Normal Studios

Wednesday 9 April - Maats Rotterdam -18:00

With the successful Grand Opening party and group ride still fresh in our minds, it's already time to bring some Maats culture to Rotterdam: the notorious Pizza Rides! For the past years, pizza rides have been a permanent event in our summer event schedule and since this will be the first edition in our new Rotterdam store, we wanted to make this a special one. 

We organize the first Rotterdam Pizza Ride in collaboration with our close friends from Pas Normal Studios. Over the years, we’ve hosted many events with Pas Normal Studios, and this time we’re bringing the community together once again for a fun and social evening on the bike, so we could celebrate the Rotterdam opening together. 

Join us for a 55 km group ride, followed by delicious pizza and ice-cold drinks to wrap up the evening in style. Since this will be the first (of many) pizza rides in Rotterdam, pizza and beers are on us!

The PNS corner in our store in Amsterdam has been upgraded and is decorated in the same style as the Pas Normal Studios flagship stores in Copenhagen, München, Mallorca, Taipei and San Francisco. To celebrate this, we are organizing a Maats x PNS 2.0 Launch weekend and you a more than welcome!

Friday evening 6pm, we kick-off the Launch Weekend in our store in Amterdam. There will be a PNS crew coming over for the party and we love to show you our new and updated PNS corner in our store. 

We will make sure there will be plenty of drinks, snacks and music, and we might even provide some special Maats x PNS 2.0 Launch Casual items. The party is free and you are more than welcome to join, please register so we know that you're coming.

On saturday morning we organise a social group ride with Pas Normal Studios. We host a 100km ride on the road with a coffeestop halfway from the Maats Sprinter. We will devide everyone in groups and there will differents speed. We will share the route and all info a few days before the event.

The 2023 edition of the Maats x Pas Normal Studios race is planned for Saturday September 9th.

This event is to celebrate the collab between Maats Cycling Culture and apparel brand Pas Normal Studios from Copenhagen. Racing is in the DNA of the Danish brand and that is why we organize a Maats x PNS race in Amsterdam for the fifth year in a row already! We will make this a special festive edition.

This event is an accessible way to get in touch with racing. There are people who have experience with this, but it is also a perfect event for people who are new to racing. The race consists of a 15 minute warm-up and this is perfect for getting used to the track and to riding in a peloton. No worries about the level, it is a friendly race and suitable for most cyclists.

Saturday June 24th

Since last year, Maats proudly stocks shoe brand QUOC. At Maats we have been looking for distinctive brands with a good story and outstanding quality since day one. QUOC is a brand that meets all our requirements and we are stoked to represent it. At Maats, we sell both road and off-road QUOC shoes. This spring QUOC released their new collection which you can check here.

Together with QUOC we organize a social ride to celebrate our collaboration. Ondrej, Bonnie and James from QUOC are joining us for the ride, as well as local brand ambassadors Alberto Viciana and our own Sherry Buzzalong. We created a nice route (road) and will treat you to a coffee before the ride. Moreover, expect some nice goodies from our friends from QUOC for all participants.

A collaboration with Standert Bikes from Berlin is a perfect example. As far as we’re concerned, this exciting brand is a true gamechanger — and it aligns surprisingly well with who we are and the brands we represent.

That’s why, in spring 2025, we’re hosting a Standert Pop-up in our stores. A curated selection of Standert bikes will be on display, ready to be explored — and yes, you can even take them for a short test ride.

To kick things off, we’re organizing two special Maats x Standert Kick-off Rides: one in Amsterdam and one at our brand-new store in Rotterdam.

• Ride leaders will still lead the ride but do not ride at the front all the time. Riders at the front can switch turns. 

If someone is struggling, bring the pace down a little bit. If some people have to wait at a traffic sign, wait for them across the street.
In Dutch there is a saying: “Samen uit, Samen thuis”, which means we’ll stick together and leave no one behind, from departure till arrival.

• Respect the indicated pace 

• Respect traffic rules
