NEW: Maats Advanced Ride Rotterdam (Road)
Introducing our new Advanced Road Rides!
Sundays are for riding, sharing time together on the bike to connect, meeting new people or catching up with friends.
What is an Advanced Ride?
The Advanced Ride is meant for more advanced riders, who are comfortable with a higher pace
- Higher pace
- average speed: 30-32 km/h
- Speed ridden (on long straight parts) is ~34 km/h
-
This ride is a bit more challenging, but still meant as a community ride where a NO DROP POLICY applies.
- Ride leaders will still lead the ride but do not ride at the front all the time. Riders at the front can switch turns.
If someone is struggling, bring the pace down a little bit. If some people have to wait at a traffic sign, wait for them across the street.
In Dutch there is a saying: “Samen uit, Samen thuis”, which means we’ll stick together and leave no one behind, from departure till arrival.
General Rules (Important!)
- Helmet is Mandatory
- Make sure you're aware of the signaling on the bike (Voor, tegen, paaltje etc.)
- Respect the indicated pace
-
Respect traffic rules
What is the level? What do we expect from you?
Although we love all cyclists, our rides are not for absolute beginners. If you register for our rides, we expect you to be able to ride at least 28 km/h in a group for a minimum of 2+ hours. Experience with group rides is a plus but not a requirement.
NOTE: if the reason for you to join is to ride really fast without any social interactions, this is NOT for you.
Routes:
Each Maats location has approximately 8 fixed routes of around 60-70 km.
Routes are designed for variety, safety and an optimal riding experience with groups. Routes will NOT be adjusted (only in consultation).
How to join:
Soon, there will be a QR-code visible on this page. By scanning this QR-code, you will enter a Whatsapp group where all weekly Flow and Advanced rides will be announced. In this group, you can indicate if you want to join a ride by filling in a poll. This poll will be sent each Friday before the ride. All details will be shared in this group, such as GPX-files, route links to Komoot, ride leaders and more.
Come back soon for the QR-Code.
