Powered by Maats in collaboration with Pas Normal Studios
Sunday 21 January 2024 08:30h
Start and finish: Maats Amsterdam, van Woustraat 165
January is the month of the Winter Resolution Challenge from Pas Normal Studios, a Strava initiative that challenges you to ride at least 1250 km in the first month of the year. On Sunday 21/1, we organize a long ride to boost your monthly total and achieve your goals. We also hosted this event in the beginning of 2023, and we like the idea to turn this into a yearly tradition. Check last years aftermovie here.
Everyone around Amsterdam has heard of it or rode it before: the famous and notorious Markermeer loop, a route of approximately 160 km, all day along the waterfront. It is a simple route where the only thing you have to think about is whether you are going to take it clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on the wind that day. You can find the route here.
We gather at 08:30h at Maats for coffee. After the ride briefing, we divide everyone into smaller groups for departure. The Maats Sprinter will serve as a support van, that rides with the groups, in which you can put some personal belongings (like food or extra clothing) during the stops.

Friday 21 June 2024
Starting Point: Amsterdam, Utrecht or Zwolle
Maats and Pas Normal Studios would like to invite you to complete the Midsummer Challenge on the longest day of the year: Friday June 21st. We are challenging everyone to ride 200km+ in one go - come join us for a long epic day in the saddle.
The concept is simple: we will take full advantage of the longest day of the year and ride a longer route of no less than 235km. You can choose to start either from our store in Amsterdam, Utrecht or from Ride Fast Bikeshop (our newest shop-in-shop location near Zwolle).
We are organizing the event in cooperation with our premium brand Pas Normal Studios. Brand ambassador Rik de Voogd will join us on the ride from Amsterdam.
All groups ride the same route and have at least two stops. The group that departs from Maats Utrecht, stops in Zwolle and Amsterdam and finishes again in Utrecht. Riders from Amsterdam first go to Utrecht, then Zwolle. During the instore breaks we'll provide food, snacks and drinks. Upon your return, cold beers will be waiting at the finish line.

The return of a classic: The Maats Gravel Series. Three gravel rides in three iconic locations across the Netherlands. Starting this season, the series is exclusively for Maats Members.
Each ride covers between 75 and 100 km and takes you over the most beautiful gravel roads and trails. We start the day with coffee and finish it with a dirty bike.
We’ll kick off the series on Saturday, November 8th at RideFast Bike Shop in Zwolle.
Two weeks later, we’ll be hosted by Maats Member Nick Lettink in Arnhem, who’s eager to show us the finest off-road gems of the Veluwe. Start and finish a Stadsvilla Sonbeek.
We’ll wrap up the series in mid-December with a Gravel Series x Off the Map in Maastricht — think of it as Maats Monday Limburg, but off-road. 😉
Curious about the routes? Check them out here for a first impression.
Each gravel series event is limited to around 25 spots. These are initially exclusively available to Maats Members. If any spots remain, aspiring members will also have the opportunity to join.
The participation fee for a Gravel Series event is €25. This includes a GPX route, coffee before the start, and a halfway stop supported by the Maats Sprinter.

In collaboration with MAAP and the Ride Beyond Crew, and in celebration of the new MAAP Atmos collection, we’re setting out to test the lungs and character – a pursuit of the sort of limits and lessons that only come when you push beyond your comfort zone.
This ride will be long, hard, and one best experienced with friends and new friends alike. The sort of Type 2 fun that usually comes with the potential of bonking* and we end up talking about with mates for years and even decades to come.
As we push ourselves to the next level, we need our gear to meet us there too. Incremental gains are the difference between betterment and stagnating. The new Atmos collection is driven by performance and versatility. The Atmos Jacket is the lightest weight all-weather jacket MAAP’s developed to date. The ultimate pieces for those in a constant pursuit of progression.

Join us at De Proloog in Amerongen for an unforgettable day full of gravel. We’ve been cooking on three unique loops that will take you on trails you've likely never seen before. Each loop is unique and different, and you decide the order and how many loops you want to ride. All three starts and ends at our base at De Proloog.
The event offers three loops, each approximately 50 km. You decide how many loops you want to ride—take on one, two, or all three! That means you can ride anywhere from 50 km to 150 km. It’s your day to explore at your own pace. Ride by yourself, as a team or join a group: it's all good!
Here’s the schedule for the day:
What bike to bring? A gravel, CX or MTB bike is what you need. You’ll be riding a mix of gravel, sand, and pavement, so get ready for a diverse ride.

Saturday March 25th, Maats Utrecht
After a successful first edition last November, the Maats Checkpoint Challenge is back for its second instalment. We've found another 10 amazing checkpoints that will take you in a new direction from our Utrecht store.
This challenge (or race for some) is all about planning, route skills and teamwork. There’s no route, just 10 checkpoints (CPs) that are worth a visit for you and your teammate. You connect these checkpoints to create your own route.
Two out of ten CPs are mandatory, the other eight are optional. So it’s up to you to decide how long your route will be. If you want to check off all CPs, expect to ride approximately 200km. The shortest route along the mandatory CPs will be around 100km.
We will draw up a classification at the finish. The team that checks off all checkpoints and does so in the shortest amount of time wins the challenge.
Are you up for the challenge? Team up & and join us on Saturday March 25th in Utrecht.

Sunday, May 17 | MAATS RTM
In the world of cycling, a chasse patate is a hopeless chase between groups. On Sunday, May 17, Maats and Rotterdam icon Bram Ladage are redefining the term: a hunt for the finest potato in the city. This ride is all about that golden, hand-cut reward.
Bram Ladage
What started as a single fry stand in 1967 has grown into a true Rotterdam institution, with over 45 locations. Still family-run, still hand-cutting every potato, and still the undisputed home of the Bram Oorlog. A Brammetje isn’t something you just grab it’s something you earn. We’re proud to team up with this Rotterdam icon and bring this event to life together.
The Ride: Hunting the Source
We depart at 09:30 from our shop on the Hoogstraat for an 80km loop. This isn’t just any route; we’re heading to the Hoeksche Waard to ride past the very fields where Bram’s potatoes are grown. The theme of this ride is Flow so riding speed will be around 30 km/h (28-29-ish avarage)
The Reward: The BramBus
Upon our return to the shop, the legendary BramBus (food truck) will be waiting right outside. Refuel with the ultimate Rotterdam classic: a fresh "Brammetje" with their signature sauces—including the famous Bram Oorlog—paired with a variety of hot snacks (with plenty of vegetarian options) and ice-cold drinks.
Schedule & Details
- 09:00: Coffee and gathering at Maats Rotterdam
- 09:30: Departure
- 12:30: The BramBus opens for post-ride refueling
- Tickets: €15 (Includes guided ride, fries, snacks, and two drinks)
Registration is required. Grab your ticket now and join us for the first-ever edition of this new-born Rotterdam classic!
